PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®
Celebrating 26 Seasons

During its 26th season, PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® had a record-setting year of matching 27,029 patients at 316 long-term care facilities with a member of the community who personally delivered a gift and visit during the holidays.

At the beginning of each campaign, patients are asked what they would like for Christmas. This information is then given to the individual(s) who “adopt” that patient. The patient will be greeted with a gift and friendly visit during the holiday season. To make a donation, please call 724-444-5521 or complete the on-line form.

Since its inception in 1984, PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® has raised gifts and visits for more than 403,631 men and women in nursing and personal care homes in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia and Tennessee. The program was founded by William V. Day, president of St. Barnabas Health System. Knowing that nursing homes and personal care homes can be lonely places, his goal is to put a smile on the face of a nursing home patient while introducing members of the community to their local long-term care facilities.

Nursing homes, assisted living facilities and personal care homes are sought to participate in the 27th season of PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®. Participating facilities receive training on how the program operates and sign their residents up, ensuring that each one receives a Christmas gift.

To locate a PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® training seminar in your area download the PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® Facilities Training Pamphlet. The facility enrollment form is also available to download.

Getting Involved

In order to reach each season’s goal, St. Barnabas Charities offers creative ways for the community to participate:

  • “Adopting” a patient at a nearby personal care home or nursing home and visiting them with a gift
  • Donating gifts to be delivered to patients
  • Contributing money for gifts to be purchased and delivered to patients
  • Volunteering at PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® headquarters
  • Donating excess inventory or products to be given as gifts
  • Purchasing an embroidered, cotton PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® throw for $30 to be given as a gift
  • Lights of Life - purchase a light on the 90-foot St. Barnabas Christmas tree (online form)
