TRACO is Co-sponsor of St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk

Gibsonia, Pa. - June 23, 2005 - Organizers of the St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk have announced that the co-sponsor for the 14th annual event is TRACO, the Cranberry Township-based window and door manufacturer. The race will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 along a 3.1-mile out-and-back course on Meridian Road. The race begins on the St. Barnabas campus in Gibsonia.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which assists patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who otherwise would not be able to afford their care. In 2004 alone, the Free Care Fund provided more than $5.76 million in care to needy patients.

Participants can register online at www.stbarnabas5K.com. Registration forms are available by calling (724) 444-5512. The cost for registration is $14 by July 29 and $18 after July 29.

The race is sponsored and organized by St. Barnabas Medical Center, an outpatient medical center open to the public and offering services in general medicine, dental medicine and home care. During its 13-year history, the St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk has earned a reputation as one of the North Hills' best races, each year attracting approximately 700 participants.

The race is scored by The Runner's High, using a ChampionChip timing system. Before, during and after the race, The Shelley Duff band, a Pittsburgh-based country and rock band, will provide live entertainment. A fabulous post-race party will be held on the lawn of St. Barnabas Medical Center with tons of food, beverages and prize giveaways. The top three overall male and female finishers will receive trophies. Additionally, first-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded to men and women in 14 age categories, as well as wheelchair racers. Participants who register by July 29 will receive a goody bag filled with coupons, samples and a race T-shirt.
