Cox Televsion Vice President to Keynote St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference
300 business leaders to gather Sept. 18
Gibsonia, Pa. - Aug. 1, 2006 - William M. Spell, a vice president of Cox Television, will keynote the
20th annual St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference on Monday, Sept. 18. The conference will be held in The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, 5847 Meridian Road, and will attract 300 area CEOs and their seconds-in-command.
Following the theme "The Best Is Yet to Come … If?," the day will begin with a light breakfast in the Mount Vernon Restaurant at 7:30 a.m. WPXI-TV anchor David Johnson will convene the conference at 8 a.m. in the Kean Theatre. Spell brings both a national and local perspective to the conference theme. Cox is the parent corporation of WPXI-TV, which is investing $30 million in building a new headquarters in the city of Pittsburgh. Spell has responsibility for the sales and marketing success of Cox's 15 television stations and three television sales representation firms.
Spell previously was director of sales for Cox-owned WSB-TV Channel 2, Atlanta, from 1990 to 1996. Spell joined WSB-TV in 1987 as local sales manager. His career in broadcast dates back to 1969 and includes experience in the New York, Toledo and Atlanta markets.
Spell is a member of the Atlanta Ad Club and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is past president of the Atlanta Broadcast Advertising Club. Active in the community, Spell is a member of the Cobb YMCA, of which he is a former director. He is past president of the Izaak Walton Conservation League, and he was a member of the 1992-93 Class of Leadership Atlanta. He is also a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Flint River Sportsman Club and the Mount Bethel Methodist Church.
Spell attended Georgia State University in Atlanta and holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA in marketing. He is a native of Wrightsville, Ga. He and his wife, the former Judy Clark, have three children and three grandchildren.

Tying in with the St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference will be the second annual Leading the Links Golf Open. The optional 18-hole round of golf will take place at Butler Country Club at 1 p.m., following the conference. Cost for golfing is $350 with proceeds benefiting the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. In 2005 alone, the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund provided more than $6.29 million to patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who otherwise could not afford their care.
