"Kean Idol" Announces Finalists From Preliminary Round

Gibsonia, Pa. - March 8, 2006 - The third annual "Kean Idol" Amateur Talent Contest is underway as vocal contestants competed in the first two of five total rounds on Sunday, March 5 at 1 and 4:30 p.m. The third round of Kean Idol vocals is scheduled for Sunday, March 12 at 1 p.m. and Kean Idol dancers will compete in a preliminary and final round on Sunday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m. Tickets to the Kean Idol are $10 for adults and $6 for students under 12. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2005 provided more than $6.2 million to needy patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas who otherwise would not be able to afford their care.

Bob Logue, former radio personality on KDKA's "Undercover Club" served as emcee. A panel of three judges selected the top five vocal finalists from round one on March 5 at 1 p.m. They are Bethany Clifford of Pitcairn; Heather Dymkoski of Sarver; Maddie Georgi of Allison Park.; Natalie Gornick of Gibsonia; and Noel McLeary of Ligonier. The audience members voted among the five finalists choosing Maddie Georgi as the winner of Round One - Kean Idol.

Round two of Kean Idol was held at 4:30 p.m. on March 5. The top five vocal finalists were selected by a panel of three judges - they are Jackie Betz of Pittsburgh; Tim Finley of Finleyville; Abigail Franc of Cranberry Twp.; Lauren Gigliotti of Gibsonia; and Celine Held of Butler. The audience members voted among the five finalists choosing Lauren Gigliotti as the winner of Round Two - Kean Idol. These 10 finalists will move on to the vocal championships on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.
