Winners of Kean Idol's Rounds 1 and 2 Selected

Gibsonia, Pa. - Feb. 21, 2007 - - In the first week of the seven-week 2007 Kean Idol Vocal and Dance Talent Contest, Natalie Schaefer, 17, of Gibsonia and Heather Geiger, 20, of Irwin were named winners of Rounds 1 and 2, respectively, during competition on Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. They each received a trophy and the right to compete in the semi-finals of the Kean Idol competition on Saturday, March 10.

Now in its fourth year, the goal of Kean Idol is to raise $20,000 for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund while providing a fun singing and dancing competition for area residents. By the end of the contest, nearly 200 contestants will have taken to the Kean Theatre stage. Although there is no entry fee, each contestant is asked to sell 10 tickets. The contest is mirrored after the popular TV shows "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars." At the six Kean Idol vocal and two dance preliminary rounds, a panel of judges narrows the large pool of contestants down to eight semi-finalists who will advance to additional competition. The audience then votes on the semi-finalist they want to see named that round's winner.
