St. Barnabas Charities to Host Leading the Links Golf Open on Sept. 12

Gibsonia, Pa. - July 22, 2005 - Golfers and foursomes are sought for the first annual St. Barnabas Charities Leading the Links Golf Open on Monday, Sept. 12 at Butler Country Club. Cost per golfer is $350, which includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, unlimited range balls, cart and greens fees, course beverages, and an evening reception. Lunch and registration will be at 12 p.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2004 alone provided more than $5.76 million worth of care to poor and low-income patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. The Leading the Links Golf Open is organized in conjunction with the 19th annual St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference, which will take place the morning of Sept. 12 at The Washington Place and the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. Three-hundred CEOs and their seconds-in-command are expected to attend. The conference theme is "Against All Odds," highlighting the success of Pittsburgh and Southwest Pennsylvania despite a shrinking population base, high business taxes, city bankruptcy and other obstacles. Esther Barazzone, Ph.D., president of Chatham College will deliver the keynote address and eight business and government leaders will participate in a panel discussion.
