Trustees Re-Elected at St. Barnabas Medical Center
Gibsonia, Pa. - July 20, 2006 - The board of trustees of St. Barnabas Medical Center Inc. has been re-elected. St. Barnabas Medical Center is a multi-specialty outpatient center located at 5830 Meridian Road and open to the public. The Medical Center sees 35,000 patient visits a year and is composed of three departments, each with an array of services:
General Medicine - Practitioners and specialties include family physicians; speech, occupational and physical therapy; lab and X-ray services; chiropractic care, cardiology; audiology; optometry; and podiatry.
Dental Medicine - The Dental Group at St. Barnabas provides a full range of family dental services plus specializes in the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing as well as prosthodontics and periodontics.
Home Care - Designed to keep individuals as independent as possible as long as possible, the Home Care Department provides visiting nurses, home care companions and nursing assistants.
Trustees are:
- William Knox, of Adams Township, Chairman. Knox is a Senior Vice President with The HDH Group, Pittsburgh, where he manages the Alternative Risk Unit. He specializes in alternative risk solutions for hard-to-place insurance risks. Prior to joining HDH, Knox spent time in New York and Los Angeles working for a variety of insurance brokers and underwriting firms. He is a member of St. Barnabas' Community Advisory Committee and chairs the St. Barnabas Founder's Day Committee. He also serves on a number of other committees for St. Barnabas. Additionally, Knox sits on the boards of Park Insurance Company and Fillmore Insurance Company. Knox holds a bachelor of arts degree from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
- Douglas W. Day of Richland Township, President. Employed by St. Barnabas for more than 18 years, Day has worked his way through the ranks, currently serving as Senior Vice President of St. Barnabas Health System. In that capacity, he oversees the operations, administrative and personnel decisions of the St. Barnabas Communities. He is particularly involved with the St. Barnabas Communities' growth plans, focusing on The Woodlands. Day also serves as Administrative Director of St. Barnabas Medical Center, a multi-specialty outpatient medical center. Day holds a bachelor of arts degree from Westminster College and is actively involved in several professional and civic organizations.
- James D. Kling of Bethel Park, treasurer. Kling is principal of DRS Architects of Pittsburgh and a member of the American Institute of Architects. Kling and his firm are responsible for the architectural work on many of St. Barnabas' properties, including The Washington Place and its Kean Theatre and The Woodlands at St. Barnabas patio homes. Much of Kling's career experience has been devoted to the master planning, design and management of healthcare-related projects as well as government projects. Kling is also a member of St. Barnabas Charities' Community Advisory Committee and has served on St. Barnabas' Founder's Day committee. He is a trustee on the Bethel Park Community Foundation and serves on the planning commission for Bethel Park.
- Karen Tabacchi of Jefferson Township. Tabacchi is Senior Vice President of St. Barnabas Health System and President of St. Barnabas Clinical Services and is responsible for overseeing the operations, personnel and administrative decisions of St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas. A registered nurse, she is a graduate of the Nursing School of Allegheny Community College and holds a degree in business administration from LaRoche College. She has been employed by St. Barnabas for 18 years.
