Board of Trustees Re-Elected for The Washington Place at St. Barnabas
Gibsonia, Pa. - May 15, 2006 - The board of trustees was recently re-elected for The Washington Place at St. Barnabas Inc., a 23-unit apartment building for independent retirees who receive assistance from hospitality hostesses. The Washington Place at St. Barnabas is part of St. Barnabas Health System's St. Barnabas Communities for independent retirees, which also includes The Village at St. Barnabas and The Woodlands at St. Barnabas.
Serving as trustees for The Washington Place at St. Barnabas Inc. are:
- Susan Mussman of Sewickley, Chairwoman. Mussman is a senior partner with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP, Pittsburgh, where one of her specialties is nonprofit law. Prior to joining the law firm, Mussman served 13 years as an administrator of a nonprofit organization and she continues to serve on the boards of many Pittsburgh-area nonprofit organizations. She is a member of St. Barnabas' Community Advisory Committee and the St. Barnabas CEO Leadership Conference Committee. Mussman holds a bachelor of arts degree from Davis & Elkins College and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
- Douglas W. Day of Richland Township, president. Employed by St. Barnabas since 1982, Day has worked his way through the ranks and also serves as Senior Vice President of St. Barnabas Health System. In that capacity, he oversees the operations, administrative and personnel decisions of the St. Barnabas Communities. He is particularly involved with the St. Barnabas Communities' growth plans, focusing on The Woodlands at St. Barnabas, which is a growing community of carriage homes in Valencia borough, Butler County. Day also serves as President of St. Barnabas Medical Center Inc., a multi-specialty outpatient medical center. Day holds a bachelor of arts degree from Westminster College and is actively involved in several professional and civic organizations.
- Robert Bergdahl of Richland Township, Secretary. Bergdahl has worked for St. Barnabas for 10 years, starting as the Director of Food and Beverage Services at The Village at St. Barnabas and currently serving as the Assistant Director of St. Barnabas Communities. He oversees the resident relations functions of the St. Barnabas Communities, which includes orienting new residents and assisting all residents with their questions and concerns. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, he has 20 years' experience in the hospitality industry.
- Helen Bartlett of McCandless, Treasurer. Bartlett is a physical therapist with Seneca Place, an extended care facility. She has more than 45 years' experience as a physical therapist, having graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English and pre-medicine from University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and later the D.T. Watson School of Physical Therapy, affiliated with University of Pittsburgh. Bartlett's career has included positions with the D.T. Watson Home for Crippled Children, the D.T. Watson School of Physical Therapy, and the Presbyterian Medical Center in Oakmont. She attends meetings of the St. Barnabas Community Advisory Committee and is a volunteer at her church, St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland, where she serves on the preschool board.
The Washington Place at St. Barnabas is a 23-unit apartment building for independent retirees who need some assistance. The building boasts an elegant yet intimate atmosphere. Hospitality hostesses tend to residents' needs daily and delicious meals are served in a full-service restaurant. Residents have the opportunity to enjoy two courtyards, a library, a spacious TV room, and a well-appointed recreation room. Plus, the 350-seat Kean Theatre is at the heart of The Washington Place.
